The northeastern Chinese city of Jilin has been under lockdown for two weeks.
One resident called Mrs. Yang told us the situation there is becoming very serious.
All restaurants are closed. Very few supermarkets are open. Some pharmacies are closed too. Anyone with a fever has to go to the hospital to get treatment. She says, most people just stay at home now. They’re very scared and life is hard.
Right now, the economy here is completely paralyzed, 90% of it. Everything is shut down, including most factories and businesses. Only the state-owned factories are still open, but their production is cut in half.
