House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) marked 76 years of Israeli independence when he spoke to attendees at a celebration in Washington on Thursday.
“After years of homelessness and persecution, in May 1948, a new nation was born based on the precepts of liberty and justice and peace, taught by the Hebrew prophets,” Mr. Johnson said.
He also applauded the bipartisan support afforded Israel by U.S. federal legislators, and declared: “We will stand together.”
