A grand jury in Oregon indicted JonBenet Ramsey’s 66-year-old ex-photographer on child pornography charges after he was caught downloading “inappropriate” photos using the A&W Wi-Fi.

Randall DeWitt Simons was charged with 15 counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse after Springfield police took him into custody on July 2, The Register-Guard reported.

The child pornography investigation began when A&W made a report to Oakridge Police that involved an individual using their Wi-Fi network to download “inappropriate and concerning images.”

When the police were aware of the incident, they identified the computer’s address that had used A&W’s Wi-Fi system and tracked it all the way to a man that lived near the restaurant, according to the search warrant affidavit, the Daily Mail reported.

But the man they encountered was not the suspect they were looking for.

Instead, they discovered that Simons had been giving away his old computers and this man was a recipient.

Springfield and Oakridge Police worked together to track the suspect down by using a special device to reveal his location.

After authorities obtained a search warrant on June 27, they seized laptops, CDs, and recording equipment, the Daily Mail reported.

Simons is set to return to court for a pre-trial conference on Aug. 7, The Register-Guard reported.

Oakridge Police asked anyone who may have left their child unattended with Simons, who described himself as a children’s photographer, to contact Oakridge Police at 541-782-4232 or Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150.

New Theory Could Encourage People to Step Forward

More than two decades ago, 6-year-old child beauty pageant star JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in the basement of her family’s house in Boulder, Colo. Now, a TV docuseries takes a new look at the cold case, reported Fox News.

The series titled “The Untold Story” will cover events that have had a significant effect on our nation. Lead investigative anchor for A&E Networks, Elizabeth Vargas, is the person driving the production.

The series premiered on April 11 with an episode titled “Hunting JonBenet’s Killer.”

The episode included brand-new photos that were never released before plus an exclusive interview with JonBenet’s father John Ramsey.

The show also features Robert Clark, a retired assistant special agent, who investigates new theories that could give fresh insight into what happened to JonBenet in 1996.

Clark told the news outlet that he hoped the show would help inspire someone with more information to come forward and help solve the case.

“Maybe someone will remember something,” said Clark. “This has happened on multiple occasions. Mr. John Walsh has built a tremendous career in highlighting cases on television and then the next thing you know someone’s calling. … I’m hoping anything from this show will help someone remember something and then call the Boulder Police Department and say, ‘I remember seeing this.’ Or, ‘I saw this person.’ Even, ‘Someone told me this.'”

“We’ve been able to solve a multitude of cases because of ‘America’s Most Wanted’ and other shows that have highlighted active investigations,” Clark continued. “The JonBenet Ramsey case continues to be an active investigation. We certainly need the public’s help in gathering additional information and intelligence to be able to solve this case. … Someone who calls in with information can help us solve this case and finally put JonBenet to rest.”

“If we look back to 1996 when this crime happened and the investigative strategies and technologies and forensic capabilities that were available to law enforcement back there are certainly not what they are now,” said Clark.

“We have so many more advances now to be able to solve cases. … Currently, we have things available to us now that are just absolutely critical and essential to investigations. I felt that a lot of those things may not have been applied to this particular investigation, which could have helped solved the case. Potentially much, much earlier.”

John Ramsey admitted during the episode that, like his late wife (who died at the age of 49 due to ovarian cancer), it’s possible he won’t be around to find out who killed his daughter.

However, Clark told Fox News, “Never say never.”
