Singer Kelly Clarkson recently opened up about the health issues that she had encountered that send her to the emergency room early in 2019, according to multiple reports.
The first incident was back on May 1, just prior to her hosting the Billboard Music Awards, Fox News reported. This was followed by a second trip to the emergency room just a week later.

In spite of her pain, Clarkson went forward with hosting the awards show. She recalled to PEOPLE that she had doctors who knew of her condition on stand-by, and managed to conclude the show on a successful note. She then had surgery to remove her appendix on May 2.
She shared about the incident in a post on her Twitter, writing, “Not gonna lie…. I may or may not have broken down i tears after the show from pain. BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix.”

“The show must go on,” she said in the same tweet.
“I just didn’t want to leave people hanging,” Clarkson said, according to Fox News.
The second incident happened while she was filming live shows for the singing competition “The Voice,” according to PEOPLE. She shared that a week after her first health scare with appendicitis, a cyst on her ovary erupted. She shared that she was talking with her co-star Blake Shelton when she realized something was wrong.
“Blake [Shelton] was talking to me and all of the sudden, everything he said just went away and I had to grab his arm and I was like, ‘Something is wrong,'” Clarkson said, according to PEOPLE. She recalled that this health scare was even more painful than the appendicitis.
Fox News reported that after filming wrapped up for “The Voice,” Clarkson checked herself into the hospital and found out that a cyst had exploded on her ovary.
“I had a giant cyst explode on my ovary! I was hysterically laughing and crying in the ER like, ‘What is happening,'” Clarkson said. She recalled to PEOPLE that she was unnerved because it was a week since she had surgery to remove her appendix.
She is fine now though with the two health scares were behind her, she told PEOPLE. Fox News reported that Clarkson had a great year in 2019, aside from the health scares.
PEOPLE reported back in May that Clarkson would be spending some time with her family after her health scares, in between her busy schedule of being part of “The Voice” and preparing for her new talk show that will debut in September. She said it had been a while since she had a break together with her family, considering how busy she and her husband have been. She had also been posting on her social media about her vacation.
So I’m sitting here on vacation thinking about how freaking excited I am about working with @gwenstefani on #NBCTheVoice this next season. I have been a fan of this woman since #TrappedInABox y’all. Move over @blakeshelton I’m fan crushin’ on your girl this season!

“My family and my husband’s family are all getting together and staying on this ranch and hanging out,” she told PEOPLE. “I don’t take a break unless I’m removed from my dwelling. I will find things to do my house all day and night. I kind of have to remove myself, but we’re taking a little break because we haven’t had one.”
