Kentucky Inmates Trade Canned Food for Fresh Produce, Learn New Skills

Hopkins County Jail’s garden project, which was initiated in 2017 with a small used tractor, has blossomed into a source of fresh produce—and life skills—for inmates. Jailer Mike Lewis joins NTD to explain how the program has now grown to over two acres, providing a welcome change from canned foods and saving the jail around $11,000 in food supplies last year.
