Prosecutors in Wisconsin added another charge to the teenager accused of fatally shooting two people during a protest that turned violent in Kenosha earlier this year, according to court records.

Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, is now facing seven charges in total after a new count for violating curfew appeared in online court records on Monday, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Sheriff David Beth declared a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew on Aug. 24, the Journal reported, adding that the additional charge is for failing to comply with an emergency management order from state or local government and carries no criminal penalty.

Rittenhouse was seen on video with an assault-style rifle during a night of unrest in Kenosha on Aug. 25 following the police-involved shooting of Jacob Blake, who was shot by police during a domestic disturbance and after he resisted arrest.

Rittenhouse turned himself in voluntarily shortly after the incident and made his first appearance in a Wisconsin court in early November a few days after his extradition from Illinois.

He has been accused of fatally shooting two protesters, Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and wounding a third person, Gaige Grosskreutz. Rittenhouse allegedly traveled to Kenosha responding to a call for militia to protect businesses in the city, prosecutors said.

Before prosecutors added the charge for violating curfew, Rittenhouse faced six criminal counts that include first-degree intentional homicide. He also faces counts of attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

The teenager posted bond through his attorney last month after Kenosha County Circuit Court Commissioner Loren Keating set his bail at $2 million.

Rittenhouse is due back in court for his arraignment on Jan. 5, 2021. If convicted of the charges, he faces a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
