Buyers often write the notes to appeal to a seller to accept a less-competitive offer on the home. But Oregon outlawed the letters because they could potentially lead sellers to make decisions based on personal information, like the buyer’s race or religion. The Pacific Legal Foundation had filed a lawsuit against the ban on behalf of a real estate group in the state. NTD spoke to Ethan Blevins, one of the lawyers.
