Almost all of the workers building a cooling tower in southeast China were killed when their scaffolds collapsed in the morning of Nov. 24, state and local media reported.

Two workers were injured and one remains missing at the power plant construction construction site in Fengcheng, Jiangxi Province. State-run television said that over 100 members of the People’s Armed Police joined rescue workers to help find survivors.

Deadly accidents at construction sites and industrial plants are common in China, where regulations are often lax or go unheeded.
