Lithuania is going a step further to counter China’s authoritarian regime. The country’s defense ministry recommended that consumers avoid buying Chinese mobile phones. And to those who already own them, the ministry says to throw them away.

Lithuania’s state-run cybersecurity body said on Tuesday that flagship phones sold in Europe by China’s smartphone giant Xiaomi can censor terms such as “Free Tibet,” “long live Taiwan independence,” and “democracy movement.”
