When this little boy’s 2 friends were diagnosed with cancer, he decided it was time to sell his most prized possession to raise money

Brady Kahle started up his own small business at the tender age of 10—not to make money for himself—but to help his two friends in their battle against cancer.

It all started when he learned that his friend, Ben Manzi, 7, had been diagnosed with leukemia. One month later another friend of the family, Landen Palantino, 9,  was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was then that Brad knew he wanted to help … he looked at his prize baseball card collection and decided it was time to sell it to help raise money.

“Proud, seems such a small word from what we feel,” his mother, Jessie Kahle told ABC News. “How selfless he has been, pretty incredible the way he is so proud of what he has done. He is always coming up with new ways to make it better, and to make it bigger. He is so excited to make a difference.”

Brad teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Chicopee to establish Cards for a Cause. Their fundraising efforts have already made $13,000 by selling baseball cards.

Brad’s collection has been growing since he was 3 years old. It included cards of legends such as Mickey Montle, which he sold for $150.

Not only does Brad sell cards, he sells “bobble heads” signed hockey sticks, autographed baseball sticks, and photos of sports heroes. He also sells printed logo T-shirts, which bear his organization’s name. He has now started to receive donations from people who are collectors of sports memorabilia.

Brad has been recognized by the Heroic Inspirations Campaign by the trading company Upper Deck for his dedication—it has put his face on his very own card with the title “Founder—Cards 4 a Cause.”

The Palatinos and Manzis, the families of the two sick boys, are just so appreciative of Brad, it’s beyond words.

Most children Brad’s age would not part with their treasured items. The fact that Brad sold his beloved collection to help Ben and Landen is so heartwarming and he is an excellent role model to other children. Palantino told ABC News, “Landen has always looked up to Brad, and now this makes him look up to him even more.”

It’s truly remarkable how selfless this young boy’s actions have been. It’s inspiring to know that even for someone so young, no sacrifice is too great and no amount of work can stop him from making a difference in the lives of those he cares for.
