London bar mixes drinks with virtual reality

Once guests order a drink at the bar, they can take a virtual reality trip to discover where the drink ingredients were made. It’s become a phenomenon at one London hotel bar.

One Aldwych bar manager Pedro Paulo talked about how the technology works, “So I thought it would be very interesting to actually take the guests to the origin of the drink. So we designed this whole concept behind Dalmore, so Dalmore invited us to take some footage of the distillery and the surrounding areas so we could actually show the guests how the whiskey was produced, which water was used, which cereal and how, and locate in Scotland the whiskey.”

Bar patrons come for a drink and leave with an experience that informed them about where their drink came from.

VR headsets are popular with video game system users, and Samsung has a popular VR headset that works with their line of cellphones. This is the first VR experience that is used to take people to the source of their drink ingredients.
