London fire burns through 24-floor apartment tower

A massive fire engulfed a 24-story building in London. The building was riddled with fire safety issues.

A resident from the 17th Floor shared her family’s escape story, “Not until I opened up my front door and the smoke came in, that’s when my fire alarm went off but prior to that, no it was my son that woke me up.”

They managed to escape, but there are others that did not. Six people have already been confirmed dead.

David Collins, former chair of the Residents Association for Grenfell Tower, shared that fire safety issues were nothing new.

“But what I want to report is that we repeatedly reported concerns to the tenant management organization of the world borough of Kensington and Chelsea, including the fire safety concerns, which were not investigated,” he said.

Although concern has poured in from society, building management has not yet addressed the situation.
