Macron greets crowd as president for first time

Emmanuel Macron greeted adoring hordes of supporters lining the Champs-Elysees after a ceremony at the Arc de Triomphe, in his first official acts as president of France.

He was sworn in as president of France on May 14.

After taking the oath he attended a ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier beneath the Arc de Triomphe in the heart of Paris.

After the ceremony he greeted the crowds lining the Champs-Elysees.

The people seemed very supportive.

“Oh, it’s historic, just historic. I’m so happy, happy for the French, because I didn’t want the extreme right,” said Ascual, an Argentine tourist.

“I wanted a man like him, warm, with his wife … When he was saluting everyone it was incredible, very moving, historic!”
