Making ‘Kkot-san-byeong (Flower Sasbyeong)’ with Korean traditional wooden rice-cake pattern stamps “Tteoksal”
Since ancient times, Korean ancestors used wooden rice-cake patterns to make and eat these pretty rice cakes. Also, they wished for good luck when they ate these rice cakes.
1. Wheel shaped (pattern):
The meaning of this pattern means that everything should go well and smooth the whole year, and may you never get stuck.
2. Peony shaped (pattern):
The meaning of this pattern is for wealth and prosperity
3. Plaid (cross stripes) shape (pattern): this pattern also looks like a net, so it means protecting the family from evil and misfortune.
Pinch off bits of well-steamed rice cake dough and roll into small balls.
Apply sesame oil on the side of a wooden rice-cake pattern and then stamp the rice cake ball before decorating with little details
Now the beautiful Kkot-san-byeong is complete!
