Malala is the youngest person to receive highest U.N. honor

Malala Yousafzai is the youngest-ever U.N. Messenger of Peace, she is only 19 years old. U.N. Secretary General Guterres appointed Malala as the Messenger of Peace for girls education and said, “You are not only a hero, but you are a very committed and generous person.”

Malala was shot in the head by Taliban gunmen for going to school, it is now more than four years after the incident.

“The extremists tried all their best to stop me, they tried to kill me and they didn’t succeed,” Malala said on April 10. “Now this is a new life, this is a second life and it is for the purpose of education.”

U.N. Secretary General Guterres appointed Malala as the Messenger of Peace for girls education and said, “You are not only a hero, but you are a very committed and generous person.”

The Messenger of Peace is the highest U.N. honor.

Malala is also the youngest person ever to win the Nobel peace prize in 2014 when she was 17.
