An Oregon man and woman are being questioned by authorities after they allegedly attacked a man who was wearing a MAGA hat on Aug. 24.

Milwaukee resident Luke Lenzner and his wife Leah were having a drink at a Portland bar when other patrons allegedly began verbally abusing Luke and suggesting he is “racist” because he was wearing a red Make America Great Again cap.

“Almost the entire bar stands against him and he stood his ground,” Leah said on Facebook.

After several people made unfriendly remarks and the bar staff did not come to their defense, the couple voluntarily decided to leave in order to avoid any further conflict.

“Of course we left, no one will stand with us and we don’t want a fight but they do,” Leah said. “Again, we are minding our own business so please mind ours.”

Although the couple thought they were taking the moral high ground by leaving, two patrons followed them outside and began punching Luke.

Leah revealed the terrifying moment several people made advances towards her husband, hoping to force him to remove his hat. Luke did not engage in any violence, she claimed.

“As the news said, he did not get involved physically even though he had many people going at him and trying to get his hat off his head,” she said on Facebook. “No, Luke did not start this … I’m so proud of my husband for being so strong.”

As a matter of principle, Luke refused to remove his hat, saying he believed in the message behind MAGA, which Trump used to win the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

“We are Trump supporters and if you don’t like it then delete me, defriend me, whatever,” Leah said on Facebook.

The confrontation continued until Luke suffered multiple injuries to his face and was forced to seek medical attention.

“I’m honestly so [expletive], my husband was assaulted,” Leah said on Facebook. “He is at the hospital because he was assaulted for wearing a MAGA hat and the [expletive] broke his nose.”

Portland Police have arrested and charged suspects Adebisi A. Okuneye, 23, and Leopold A. Hauser, 22, with third-degree assault, according to the Daily Mail.

Hauser and Okuneye are understood to have originally fled the scene before officers arrived and were able to track them down a few blocks away thanks to Luke who provided a license plate.

Witnesses have accused Luke of starting the fight because he was wearing a MAGA hat, but police confirmed Luke did not actually trade blows with the suspects.

The accused attackers are expected to be arraigned on Sept. 2, according to the Daily Mail.

Leah believes the attack was a harsh insight into how Trump supporters are treated in the city.

“I got to see first hand how someone is treated in Portland when they wear a Make America Great Again hat, it’s not good,” Leah said on Facebook. “This is what happens when you walk Portland with a MAGA hat. Thanks to the Portland Police the perps have been arrested.”
