Man balances running lawnmower on chin and walks for world record

This New Yorker broke his previous world record for walking with a powered lawnmower on his chin. With superb balance and spinning lawnmower blades above him, he trotted down a New York City sidewalk without dropping the heavy grass cutter.

Ashrita Furman walked 71.53 meter (235 feet)s without dropping the lawnmower, easily breaking his previous record of 20 meters (66 feet).

Furman spoke about what made him choose this particular task.

“Well this is not my idea, Guinness invented this. I don’t think I would have thought of this crazy idea but I’m glad that they did. I love it. I like the fact that it’s a little bit dangerous and it’s challenging and it’s very visual. When I practice I always get people, you know, kids taking video and it gives people joy, which is important,” he said.

Ashrita Furman holds numerous other world records, many involving hula hoops or balancing unusual objects while in motion. He started his world record quests in 1979, when he did 27,000 jumping jacks.

Over the years he has set over 600 world records. Today he still holds over 200 of them, including the record for most world records.
