Over 9-months and 30 days of actual work, this man built a 2m x 2m  (6.5 x 6.5 feet) hut using these naturally primitive tools; and all natural materials.

The tools included:

  • a digging stick for digging
  • a stone hand ax to chop wood
  • fire sticks to make fire
  • clay pots to carry water

Natural materials used were:

  • wood for the frame
  • vine and cane for lashings
  • mud for walls

The paper bark roof sits at a 45-degree angle and the bed takes up about half of the interior space. Leaves were used for thatch but started to rot after about four months. An outdoor fireplace with a chimney (to reduce smoke) was built for the structure. The shelter is small and cozy with enough room to store tools if needed t protect them from the elements.
