Man Drives 200 Miles With Body In Car, Confesses to Killing 4 People

A man in northern California drove over 200 miles with a body in his car, entered a police station, and confessed to killing four people on the afternoon of Oct. 14, according to multiple reports.

The man in question, had travelled from Roseville to the Mt. Shasta Police Station to report the homicide, and confessed to killing four people, one body was inside his Mazda sedan, according to the New York Times. The news outlet reported that the man had confessed to his crimes in a “matter of fact” and calm manner that caught the police officers off guard.

According to the New York Times, Robert Gibson, a sergeant of the Mt. Shasta Police Department, said the man “just came in and told our dispatcher that ‘I want to confess to a murder’, and then just gave it up. I have never had someone come in with a body and turn themselves in here. This was unusual for us.”

Initially, the police officers did not believe the man, but after being shown the body in his vehicle, the man was quickly detained, according to the New York Times. The man has not been identified or officially charged with any crime yet.

The Roseville Police Department was contacted by the Mt. Shasta Police Department at 12:11 p.m. on Oct. 14 regarding the crime, reporting that there were three more victims in the apartment that the suspect had owned in Roseville, according to video footage of a press conference held by the Roseville Police Department that was uploaded to the police department’s Facebook page.

In the press conference, Joshua Simon, the Roseville Police Captain, stated that upon receiving the report of the crime, Roseville officers went to the apartment in question on the 1800 block of Junction Boulevard. Upon arriving at the scene the crime, officers confirmed that there were three deceased bodies in the apartment.

Police believe that the suspect and his victims knew each other, but have not confirmed what relationship they had, according to the Roseville Police Department’s Facebook post.

According to Simon, both the Roseville Police Department and the Mt. Shasta Police Department are working together to investigate this crime, and the investigation is still ongoing. Neither police department has released the identities of the suspect or the victims involved in the crime. Police believe there is no ongoing threat to either communities, Simon stated during the press conference.

New York Times reported that the man had described the victims as family members, according to authorities. Police have not released any further information regarding the case.
