Man Found ‘Frozen to Death’ on Porch in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, West Virginia — Police in West Virginia say a man has been found dead on a porch in West Virginia in bitterly cold weather.

Charleston police Chief Steve Cooper told media that the middle-aged man was found Sunday on a porch and appeared “frozen to death” but substance abuse is also suspected as a factor.

Steve Cooper tells WOWK-TV the victim found Sunday was identified as 52-year-old Clyde Chester Parsons of Charleston. Neighbors say the man was homeless. Parsons’ body was found just before noon near the 1800 block of 7th Avenue on a residence’s porch.

Cooper says no foul play is suspected.

Temperatures dipped into the single digits over the weekend. Forecasters called for a high of 18 degrees in Charleston on Sunday.

UPDATE: Police have released the identity of the man found frozen to death on the front porch of a home in Charleston…
