A man on parole was arrested after allegedly robbing a restaurant at Chili, New York while wearing his ankle monitor on Jan. 6.

Police were called to a Subway at 4369 Buffalo Road in North Chili at 7:30 p.m. for an alleged knifepoint robbery, reported the Democrat & Chronicle, citing the police.

Adam Hettig, 32, was arrested shortly afterward without incident at his home in Chili after authorities were notified that his ankle monitor showed that he was at the Subway at the time of the armed heist.

The Subway employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told WHAM that Hettig walked into the store and went straight to the bathroom.

Shortly afterward, he went behind the counter toward the employee.

“When I came out he was pushing up against the door, he pushed it open, and then he went around my back around the table, and he had put a knife to my throat,” the employee told the news station.

She said Hettig was choking her while holding the knife to her throat. He also appeared increasingly agitated while demanding money, reported WHAM.

The store employee said she was the only other person inside the store at the time.

“It was a very violent robbery. He put the knife right to her throat, so it was good for us to get him taken care of and remove him from doing this to any other store clerks” Sgt. Scott Walsh, an investigator with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, told the news station.

Authorities said Hettig had allegedly admitted to the crime. He was arraigned in Chili Town Court and remanded to the Monroe County Jail, reported the Democrat & Chronicle, citing police.

Hettig was paroled in March last year after serving time for a burglary conviction, reported the newspaper, citing online records. New York State Parole lodged a parole warrant with the jail.
