Man rescued abandoned new-born baby from telephone booth, 22 years later she finally locates her savior!

What would you do if you happen to find a new born baby, wrapped in a chip bag? How would your mind react to such an inhumane situation?

This is the real-life story of a 30 year old unmarried man, who discovered a baby, just 2 hours old, inside a telephone booth in East London.

“As I was walking towards the phone box, I could see what looked like chip wrappers on the floor – it annoyed me that people couldn’t pick up their mess. But just before I got to the door, I realized there was a tiny life form wrapped inside,” said Joe Campbell.

He immediately took on to the baby, picked up the little bundle full of life, and even tried to adopt her! Since he was unmarried at the time, he was not able to, but the hospital honored this kind soul by naming the little baby, April Campbell, a combination of the month she was born and Joe’s last name.

She was later adopted and named Kiran Sheihk, but she always thought about the man whose last name she first bore.

When Kiran was 8, her adoptive parents told her about the rescue.  15 years later, when Kiran had turned 22, she finally decided to seek media help and meet him. The story was out in the newspapers and when Joe heard about it through a coworker, he reached out to her and – the two finally reunited.

“I am so overwhelmed, this is unbelievable.” Kiran said of the meeting. “I’ve been waiting 15 years to meet him and he’s finally here. He was the second person to hold me after my mother.”

“This is a beautiful, beautiful day. I am so glad she has got in touch after all this time, I have never forgotten her. I can’t believe she found me,” he said.

“It’s one of the happiest days of my life because I never stopped looking for her— I was always hopeful that someday, somehow I’ll find her before I part this world. She is my family.”

That historic day Joe had gone to the phone box to call his parents in Guyana in the middle of the night.

“As I was walking towards the phone box, I could see what looked like chip wrappers on the floor – it annoyed me that people couldn’t pick up their mess.” he recalled.

“But just before I got to the door, I realized there was a tiny life form wrapped inside.”

“She was an innocent, sweet little thing, just laying there gargling. As far as I can see, I did what anyone else would have done.”
