An Ohio university was placed on lockdown early Nov. 10 after a gun went off.
The University of Akron was placed on lockdown at 1:09 a.m. after a gun was fired on campus at the university’s Exchange Street Resident Hall.
Officers responded to a call of a shot fired in the hall at 12:30 a.m., the university said in a statement.
The victim, a 19-year-old male, was rushed to Akron General Cleveland Clinic Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Officers arrested the suspect, a 17-year-old male. The suspect and victim know each other, police said, but described the situation as an accidental weapon discharge.
