A 72-year-old man thought he had gone insane when he found metal objects replacing themselves inside their respective containers in his shed.

Steve McKears, who lives near Bristol in the south of England, was told that it might be a poltergeist by his children.

Weeks went by and he found metal objects in his bird feed and screws in a box of peanuts, BBC reported.

He even found heavy pieces of a chain inside one of the containers.

“I thought ‘there’s something funny going on here’, I’d never had a ghost in the shed before,” he said.

“I was worried, I’m 72 and you hear of things going wrong with 72-year-old gentlemen in the mind.”

In order to prove his sanity and eliminate the probability of supernatural interference, McKears and his neighbor set up a camera in the shed to resolve the mystery once and for all.

When they watched the overnight footage, McKears was relieved that it was “not a poltergeist,” but a mouse.

“We were amazed at what he was doing, we just couldn’t believe it,” he said.

McKears said he was very “happy” when he had proof that he wasn’t “going mad.”

He added that he likes to call it the “Brexit” mouse because it’s “stockpiling for Brexit.” However, his friend calls it “Metal Mickey.”

The Internet’s Reaction

After the story got out, many people decided to comment on the unusual story.

“That’s a mouse with a good upbringing. My mouse just ate the bottom of my door…I blame the parents,” said a social media user.

“Mouse was paroled from the Green Mile,” said another.

One woman wished she had such a mouse at her house.

“I need one like that to follow my husband round, hes a walking tornado,” she said.

Another user thought there might be something different about that mouse.

“He escaped from an experiment gone horribly right. Its a lab mouse and the government is searching for it,” they wrote.

A Twitter user thought they heard something familiar coming from the mouse.

“I overheard the mouse asking himself ‘does it spark joy?'” they said, referencing the popular Netflix series “Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.”
