Jason Johnson: Bodega Worker Case Gives ‘Important Lesson’ to Manhattan DA

After weeks of pressure, including from Mayor Eric Adams, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said he could not “prove beyond a reasonable doubt that [bodega worker Jose Alba] was not justified in his use of deadly physical force.” The reversal comes amid criticism that so-called “soft on crime” DAs are endangering their districts by encouraging lawlessness with minimal repercussions.
