Conservative author and radio personality Mark Levin says retail chain Target has reversed course and agreed to stock his new book “The Democrat Party Hates America” after initially deciding not to sell the book.

On Wednesday, Mr. Levin took to Twitter to say Target had informed his publisher, Simon & Schuster, of its decision not to carry his new book. The book’s premise is that the Democratic Party “has set out to rewrite history and destroy the foundation of freedom in America” and Mr. Levin wrote on Twitter that Target was concerned “certain customers might be offended by the title.”

By Thursday afternoon, Mr. Levin issued a follow-up tweet, saying Target had reversed course and decided to carry his new book after all.

“Target just informed my publisher that it has reversed course and will be taking my new book in its stores upon its release,” he wrote.

NTD News reached out to Target and Simon & Schuster for comment but did not receive a response from either company by the time this article was published.

It’s unclear what, if anything, caused Target to agree to carry the book. Several prominent Republican and conservative figures did speak out after Target’s alleged decision not to sell the book.

“Another good reason not to shop at Target…,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) wrote on Twitter on July 5.

Retired Army Gen. Mike Flynn, who served as a national security adviser to President Donald Trump, wrote, “Let’s give @marklevinshow a big lift here. I’ve read every book he’s written and listen to his show routinely. This is simply another form of censorship. #WeThePeople are going to stand our ground and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH!”

Mr. Levin credited his supporters for bringing about Target’s alleged course change.

“You folks are an immense force for free speech and market capitalism, and conservative authors and audiences everywhere will benefit from your patriotism,” Mr. Levin said on Thursday. “I could not be more proud of you—not only for how this specific case turned out, as there will undoubtedly be more of this—but because you’ve made it clear that you’ve had enough and will exercise your enormous power. The silent majority is silent no longer. I’ll more fully discuss this on radio. God bless and I thank and salute you all.”

Mr. Levin’s new book is scheduled for release on Sept. 19. The book is a direct follow-up to his 2021 book “American Marxism.”

“Every legal, legitimate, and appropriate tool and method must be employed in the short- and long-run to defeat the Democrat Party,” Mr. Levin wrote in a description for the new book. “The Democrat Party must be resoundingly conquered in the next election and several elections thereafter, or it will become extremely difficult to undo the damage it is unleashing at breakneck pace.”

The Target of Boycotts

The Target retail chain has been the subject of another controversy in recent weeks. The retailer was targeted with calls for boycotts in May as it began rolling out its LGBT Pride Month collection.

Many of Target’s Pride Month products were aimed at children, such as books for kids aged 2–8 with titles like “Pride 1,2,3,” “Bye Bye, Binary,” and “I’m Not a Girl” and “The Pronoun Book” for kids aged 0–3.

Another Pride Month item that caught widespread attention was a transgender swimsuit for adults with a “tuck-friendly” feature.

Conservatives began boycotting Target over the products. Between May 1 and May 30, Target’s market capitalization fell from about $72.52 billion to $61.78 billion—a decline of 14.80 percent.

Target eventually pulled some of the controversial items from stores. That decision was met with new criticism, this time from the LGBT community.

“The bigwigs at Target should continue to take a stand with us and not be so quick to fold,” Kennedy Davenport, a drag performer featured on Target’s Pride Month collection, told ABC News last month. “I would love for Target to put on their boxing gloves and fight.”

“The thing that’s so disappointing is that the leadership that Target has shown over such a long period of time seems to be wavering in a moment when the attacks on our community are increasing,” Melanie Willingham-Jaggers, the executive director of LGBTQ advocacy group GLSEN, also told ABC News last month.
