Martin Elliott: Life as a Child Heart Surgeon, the Importance of Hanging Around Smart People, and the China Tribunal | British Thought Leaders

NTD’s Lee Hall sits down with Martin Elliott, Provost of Gresham College and Emeritus Professor of Paediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at University College London.

Martin worked in child heart surgery at the world-renowned Great Ormond Street Hospital for over 30 years, and was on the panel of the China Tribunal considering evidence of forced organ harvesting in Chinese detention camps.

He talks about the emotional challenges of holding a baby’s heart in your hands, and how seeing a Formula 1 pit stop on TV brought about new standards in paediatric care.
