Maryland Gov. Wes Moore expressed thanks to rescuers and sorrow for the victims and their families while updating the public on the aftermath of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on Tuesday morning.
Holding a press conference in Dundalk, Maryland, Mr. Moore said an investigation is taking place and there is no evidence of a terrorist attack. He added the state and city are working with all forms of government to recover from the tragedy which unfolded after a cargo ship collided with one of the bridge’s supports, causing the structure to fall, plunging several cars into the river below.
Some people were rescued, and it was not clear how many more might be in the water.
