McConnell Urges GOP to Override Defense Bill Veto

Senate Leader Mitch McConnell is encouraging Republicans to override the president’s veto of the National Defense Authorization Act. That bill would require the removal or renaming of anything commemorating the Confederacy. The president had called the bill “a gift to China and Russia.”

Trump said on Twitter: “Weak and tired Republican ‘leadership’ will allow the bad Defense Bill to pass. Negotiate a better Bill, or get better leaders, NOW! Senate should not approve NDAA until fixed!”

The Senate is expected to vote on Wednesday. The Senate leader says they’ll look into that and other issues this week.
