McDonald’s, Walmart Offering Employees Credits Toward College Degrees Based on Work, Training Programs

Some of the nation’s largest retailers and fast-food franchises are cooperating with community colleges to offer credits to employees who wish to study on the side. McDonald’s is allowing students to convert on-the-job skills like customer service into college credits, while Walmart Academy is partnering with colleges to allow internal training courses in subjects like IT to be counted toward formal qualifications.
