Medical professionals both performed and were honored in an online concert presented by Carnegie Hall.

Healthcare workers got to showcase their musical talents as well.

In addition to being our healthcare heroes during the pandemic, many are also talented musicians.

The concert called “Music as Medicine” was streamed Thursday evening.

They performed well-known classical pieces by composers such as Handel, Tchaikovsky, and Vivaldi.

The concert included a special performance by the National Virtual Medical Orchestra.

Nurse Sara Kapinos was one of several healthcare workers who joined them.

She attended Juilliard and performed across the country, as well as Europe and South America, before pursuing a career in nursing.

Members of the Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra also performed for the concert.

Violinist Joshua Bell also took part by conducting an online performance of the Adagio from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker.”

Bell also helped organize the concert, and said he hopes to meet the musicians in person once the pandemic is over.
