Mercedes Benz will recall 116,020 vehicles due to an improperly secured 48-volt ground connection, the U.S National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Wednesday.
The recall affects some Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE vehicles manufactured from 2021 to 2024, GLE vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2024, and Maybach sedans from the 2021–2023 model years, according to a NHTSA filing.
The regulators said “a 48-Volt ground connection under the passenger seat may not be secured properly, resulting in the ground connection overheating,” which can increase the risk of a fire.
Mercedes-Benz said the customers will be notified by letters starting May 14.
In February, the German automaker recalled over 105,000 GLE and GLS vehicles manufactured from 2020–2023 over a defective transmission which “may not fully downshift in certain conditions, causing the engine to stall. “
