Mexican GM Workers Elect Independent Union

Workers at a General Motors pickup-truck plant in Mexico have a new, independent labor union. That’s after a vote by more than 6,000 workers. The new union is supported by international activists. It beat one of Mexico’s biggest labor organizations that held the contract for 25 years. It’s poised to bring about a bump in wages—in a country where salaries have stagnated for years.
