Mexico’s President Enrique Peña Nieto has canceled his meeting with US President Donald Trump. The Mexican President was supposed to meet with President Trump in Washington on Jan. 31, but pressure from Mexican lawmakers over Trump’s plans to push ahead with a border wall and make Mexico pay for it has been mounting

On Jan.26 President Trump Tweeted:

If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting. And the Mexican President did just that

Mexico’s President posted on Twitter:

“This morning we have informed the White House that I will not attend the meeting scheduled for next Tuesday with the POTUS,”

This doesn’t mean the two sides won’t communicate at all. White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer stated: “We’ll look for a date to schedule something in the future. We will keep the lines of communication open.”
