Mexico Officials Warn ‘Dual-Use’ Chemicals May Be Fueling Meth, Fentanyl Trade

Navy leaders in charge of Manzanillo port, Mexico’s largest shipping port, say they’re seeing an increase in unregulated “dual-use” chemicals. These chemicals are used in food and medicine production, but are also key ingredients in the manufacture of meth and fentanyl. Officials say that the majority of these chemicals come from communist China, and that Mexico has long been the main transit country for most of the fentanyl that comes into the United States.
