Argentine President Javier Milei was sworn into office on Sunday, and promised a radical shake-up of the South American nation’s public sector and monetary system to bring rampant inflation under control.
“I want us to be clear,” Mr. Milei said in Buenos Aires after his inauguration. “We are going to begin the rebuilding of Argentina after more than a hundred years of decadence. But we must embrace the ideas of freedom. While we will have to endure a period of hardship, we will get through. There is no night that has not been defeated by the day.”
