Miss USA climbs atop the Empire State Building

Miss District of Columbia won the Miss USA crown on Sunday. She is celebrating her win atop the Empire State Building. She’s letting fans get some photos and she is also offering clarification about earlier comments that caused discussion on social media.

“For me, yes, I do feel privileged. It’s an honor. I’m grateful for it. I would never want to take advantage of it either. But I do believe it should be a right for people nationwide. People do need healthcare – and affordable healthcare at that. I just want people to understand where I was coming from. Yes, I have a job, and I have to be thankful for this opportunity to be given healthcare. So I feel very privileged,” said Kara Mccullough, Miss USA.

And she spoke about where her career has taken her.

“I studied chemistry, and I concentrated in radiochemistry. So I’m a scientist at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and it’s taken me so many places. Every summer I had an internship. I’ve made very good money that’s actually helped me out during my college years,” she said.

Miss USA will next go to compete for the Miss Universe crown.
