Missile defense already partially deployed in South Korea

The South Korean defense ministry spokesman assured South Koreans they would be safe from missile attacks by North Korea even though the THAAD missile defense system is only partially constructed.

Moon Sang-gyun, the South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman, spoke about the U.S.-South Korea partnership in protecting against missile attacks, “We decided that the THAAD’s strategic operational capability had to be deployed as soon as possible, based on South Korea and the U.S.’s common judgement Amid the recent grave security situation in the Korean peninsula. Accordingly, after mutual cooperation between South Korea and the U.S., we decided to deploy parts of THAAD system into the site so that we can secure its strategic operational capability.”

North Korea’s recent missile tests have caused panic in the region. and prompted U.S. help.
