An 85-year-old woman who vanished on June 7 was found alive four days later in another state.

Jaxie Rogers of Latta, South Carolina, was found safe in Columbus County, North Carolina, Dillon County Sheriff’s Capt. Cliff Arnette told WBMF.

Rogers’s car was spotted in the county, prompting a law enforcement response. Officers eventually pinpointed her location and tracked her down.

Latta Police Chief Derrick Cartwright previously told WPDE that Rogers suffers from dementia and was spotted in her car, a white 2008 Buick Lacrosse, in Latta on Friday, June 7 around 2 p.m.

The elderly woman’s caregiver had gone inside a store and when she looked outside, Rogers was slowly driving away.

Rogers was spotted in Fairmont, North Carolina, a few hours later and seen on I-95 around mile marker 33 on Sunday night.

Cartwright said Rogers didn’t have easy access to money and might run out of gas.

“We’re understanding that she had a full tank of gas that morning. So when she left Latta, she could’ve had 3/4 quarters of a tank. And she does have limited access to get gas and to be able to get food. But we don’t know if that’s possible,” said Cartwright.

Arnette, the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office captain, told WPDE on Tuesday that the woman was found near her vehicle and that she was being transported to a hospital for a medical check-up.

Three Others Reported Missing

Annie Mae Gallager, 86, was reported missing on June 10 but was found safe a day later. She had been seen walking into a wooded area, possibly accompanied by a relative.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation canceled a Silver Alert on Tuesday after Gallager was found safe, reported WLBT.

Gallager was said to have a medical condition that might affect her judgement, lending urgency to the search.

A statewide Silver Alert was also canceled in Indiana on Tuesday after a missing man was found.

James Wilson Miller, 35, was last seen on Monday night and police said he was in extreme danger, reported WWLT.

The Silver Alert was canceled on Tuesday.

According to WNDU, no additional details were made available and it was not clear if Miller was found.

Another Silver Alert in Indiana was canceled recently.

Ethan Taylor, 18, was reported missing on Sunday night; authorities said that he was in extreme danger and might require medical assistance, reported WLWT.

Taylor was found safe on Monday and the alert was canceled.
