An Iowa family that was reported missing was found dead in their condo in Mexico, according to a family member.

“The Sharps have been located. They were found last night in their condo deceased. There was no foul play! At this time that is all the information we have,” wrote Ashli Peterson. “Please respect the family at this time as they go through the grieving process. Thank you for all the posts, shares, and kind words.”

The family of four has been sent to medical examiners in Mexico and results are pending, reported The Des Moines Register.

Kevin Wayne Sharp, 41, and his wife, Amy Marie Sharp, 38, took their children, Sterling, 12, and Adrianna, 7, on a vacation to Mexico on March 15.

But the family was supposed to return on March 21 before traveling to Danville in Illinois for a basketball game.

After they didn’t return home, family members alerted authorities.

There was no communication from the family after March 15, when they let relatives know they made it to the country safely, according to Renee Hoyt, Amy’s sister.

Pings on their cellphones showed “no movement on their phones,” Peterson said. She also noted there had been no posts from Kevin or Amy on their social media accounts.

Hoyt told Creston News Advertiser that the couple flew to Cancun, where they planned to rent a car and drive to Tulum. They had rented a condo in Tulum.

“Nobody’s cell phones are on and they didn’t land in St. Louis last night,” Hoyt said prior to the discovery of the family’s bodies. “There’s been no Facebook posts and that’s not like them. They’re always posting pictures when they’re on vacation.”

The U.S. State Department has issued a Level 2 Travel Advisory for Mexico as of March 16, noting that “Violent crime, such as homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery, is widespread.”

Creston police confirmed the finding of the bodies to WHO-TV. They are working to get the State Department involved.
