Mom of Murder Victim: Must Restore Trust Between Black Communities, Police

Zanetia Henry’s son DreCharles was murdered in Waynesboro, Mississippi three years ago this month. Henry shares about that day, her incredible pain, and her determination to save other mothers from the same horrific fate of burying a child.

Henry now works on finding solutions to chronic violence in black communities like hers. She says the only solution is unity—unity among community members and with law enforcement.

She does her work as the head of Voices of Black Mothers United in Mississippi, an initiative under the Woodson Center; and through her own non-profit Operation Recovery.
