A generous mom from the United Kingdom who scored a free supermarket shop after complaining about a missing fruit smoothie carton from a packet has decided to donate her entire haul to a food bank.

Gylisa Jayne’s generosity has gone viral and inspired many others to pass on the Christmas spirit.

Last month, the 25-year-old wrote a hilarious tongue-in-cheek letter to her local supermarket chain after she discovered the missing carton.

In a Facebook post on Nov. 3, she wrote: “Imagine the confusion when upon promising the devil-spawn a juice after the park, I cracked open my 4 pack box of juice smoothies, to discover I have been pied – and there is only three.

“Now I may have lied on every CV I have ever handed in and claimed to have a B in Maths when it was actually a ‘Hoped For The Best E.’

“But there was deffo only 3 in the box.”

To her surprise, the supermarket wrote back and offered her a free £50 (US$67) shop at one of their stores as an apology.

“Who couldn’t do with a free food shop right?” the mom-of-one wrote in another Facebook post on Dec. 18.

She said that the supermarket’s offer made her feel “a bit like when those well-off folks win the lottery.”

The blogger, who is known on Facebook as the rockandrollmother, thought it was a good opportunity to pay back for the kindness she received when she was younger.

“Years ago – my family had to use a food bank….nothing like getting one of those boxes through to get you scribbling off your rather optimistic Christmas list… Eh kids ?” Jayne explained in her post.

“But it was a godsend – chocolate, peanuts, shampoo and conditioner, food staples, even the fancy loo roll….! I swore then that I’d repay the karma one day when I could. And then this happened, and it was too much of a coincidence to not take note of,” she continued.

“So I’ve just dropped off a full food shop, with a few Christmas bits in too to our local food bank.  So thank you Aldi, for giving me the chance to pay it forward,” she added.

Her post has been liked over 1000 times and people have praised her for her actions.

“What an awesome thing to do, I’m totally inspired to do the same. Well played Gylisa,” one person commented.

“When I was younger my parents had to use a food bank. At the time I thought nothing of it but now I understand why they had to do it. Thank you for being such a lovely lady,” another person wrote.

“Love this!!!! Must admit if I got the free shop I would probably of gone crazy in the wine section lol! You have more self-control then [sic] me… go you!!” someone else commented.

The blogger has also encouraged her 33,000 followers to do the same.

“It’s the last week before Christmas, and there’s no better time to do some good – if you can,” Jayne wrote.
