Mother koalas give birth and raise only one baby koala at a time. A newborn koala baby is born blind and with undeveloped features. A “joey” (the term used for a baby koala) is less than an inch long when born.

A mom is a mom is a mom! Human, reptile, or Koala, every mom should be able to be near their baby going through any type of life-saving surgery. That is exactly how the good people at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital feel. The surgery was successful, and both mom and baby koala were happy!
