More and more people in the United States are choosing to keep pets instead of having children. Are the increased stress levels and already-stretched budgets in modern society a factor in young people choosing not to bring children into the world?
NTD spoke to Dr. Dean Beckloff, a licensed child psychologist and counselor at the Beckloff Pediatric Behavioral Center, to find out why so many people are making this choice.
He said that people are tending to have smaller families than before, with only children or two-child families increasingly common. He also outlined where the trends in child-bearing and rearing are pointed.
