Gubernatorial candidates who were ranked most conservative by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) easily won re-election, despite the GOP’s overall performance below what Republicans expected. NTD spoke to Lee Schalk, vice president of policy at ALEC for analysis. Schalk thinks that these candidates won because of their policies in areas ranging from the pandemic response, lower taxes, and freedom for workers and for parents to make education decisions for their children instead of the government.
