The mother of American businessman Mark Swidan fears her son may end his own life, according to a CBS report. Mr. Swidan has been wrongfully detained in a Chinese prison cell for more than a decade. Now he is facing a suspended death sentence, with a two-year reprieve. Mr. Swidan was arrested by Chinese authorities on drug trafficking charges in 2012, but a United Nations Working Group concluded he wasn’t even in the country at the time of the alleged offense. According to his mother, he only traveled to China to buy furniture.
