A mother was caught slapping and punching her 7-year-old son in a Walmart parking lot for being a poor lookout while his grandmother shoplifted.

The 27-year-old mother, Rebecca Gonzales, left her son bleeding from his mouth, according to documents obtained by Arizona Republic.

Police officers witnessed the abuse, according to a court document obtained by AZ Family.

“According to the child, he was hit because he didn’t watch out for his grandma good enough” during her shoplifting session, police wrote in the document.

Gonzales was charged with aggravated assault.

Unintentional Child Abuse

An Oklahoma mother punched her son in a Walmart when he tried to scare her. The 12-year-old walked up behind her with a mask of “Star Wars” character Chewbacca, while the boy’s aunt made a video recording.

Tashila Alexander quickly turned around and punched the boy’s head, sending him reeling backward and onto the floor.

“When she hit me, I just didn’t feel anything until I hit the floor,” Tylen E. told Inside Edition. “It got in my braces, and then, when I like, pulled the hair out, my bracket popped off.”

The punch was caught on video. The mother screamed before the punch. The boy’s glasses were shattered by the blow.

The mother’s punch came as a reflex reaction to turning around and seeing the boy’s character mask. She said it is not uncommon for Tylen to pull pranks in other environments.

“You think I’d be used to it, but I wasn’t expecting it in a store,” Alexander said.

The boy decided to adjust his approach to interacting with his mother after the incident.

“I don’t think he will ever try to scare her again,” Alexander told Caters News Agency, via Inside Edition.

The two laughed while recalling the incident during the Inside Edition interview.

Father Calls Police on Mother

A 27-year-old mother was arrested and taken to jail after police saw a video of her punching her 2-year-old child in the eye. The father of the child called police and told them what happened.

“Your father don’t want y’all and don’t care about yall,” police sayid27-year-old Zipporah Thompson said in the video, WFMJ reported. “I’ll punch you in the face. Do you want me to punch you in the face?”

The father also let police listen in on a phone call with Thompson. The police report contains the following exchange, WFMJ reported:

Thompson: “Just come get these damn kids before I abandon them.”
Father: “You told me you were going to kill my kids.”
Thompson: “Yes I am if you don’t come get them.”

An officer reported that he heard banging noises as if someone was getting hit during the phone call, and then he or she heard a child crying, according to WFMJ.

When police came to arrest Thompson, she banged her head on both the inside and outside of the police car.

Paramedics reported that the children were not seriously injured, WFMJ reported.

More Walmart Child Abuse

A witness said a mom in Minnesota punched her 2-year-old in the face after he tried to hit her in a Walmart parking lot, Pioneer Press reported.

The witness, who was in a parked car, said the mother punched the boy in the side of the head and then told the child to “knock it off” when he started to cry.

Police found 34-year-old Vanessa Lee Dicus at home after the witness gave them her license plate number. Dicus confirmed she was at Walmart and that the boy tried to hit her, but she denied hitting him. Police observed the boy with a bruised forehead, reddish cheek, and scratched temple.

Dicus was charged with malicious punishment, a gross misdemeanor with consequences of up to a year in jail and $3,000 fine, Pioneer Press reported.
