Mount Kanlaon volcano erupted in the central Philippines on Feb. 19, sending ash more than 6,500 feet into the air. The eruption lasted about two minutes, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Authorities issued an Alert Level 2 on the country’s five-level scale, signaling moderate volcanic unrest. Residents were warned to avoid the 2.5-mile danger zone around one of the country’s most active volcanoes.
