MPs Debate Bee-Harming Pesticide Use

The government recently authorised the emergency use of a pesticide that harms bees for the third year in a row, because of a virus in sugar beets. Researchers have found the pesticide, a type of neonicotinoid, damages bees and other pollinators as well as aquatic life. MPs raised concerns about the government’s move on Feb. 1.
