A suspect was in custody after multiple stabbings in an industrial area of Florida’s capital city, authorities said on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) said in an online news release that they were called to an industrial area in the city for a stabbing Wednesday morning.

“At approximately 8:37 am, TPD responded to a stabbing near the 2000 block of Maryland Circle,” the police department said in the release.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect is an employee, Tallahassee police spokesman Damon Miller said.

When they arrived, they found multiple people with stab wounds. The stabbing victims required immediate medical attention, according to police.

The condition of the victims was not known; they were rushed to a nearby hospital, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. The hospital told the Tallahassee Democrat six people were being treated.

Bobby Riggins Jr. went to the business for a job interview on Wednesday morning. His wife, Marquitta Campbell, said she was on the phone with him when she heard noises.

“The next thing I know, he said, ‘Baby, I’ve been stabbed five times,’” Campbell told the Democrat. “‘I’ve been stabbed.’”

Witnesses told WTXL that the suspect is an employee who got fired and that an employee fought the man off.

The stabbing took place at Dyke Industries, according to the police. The business distributes residential and commercial building supplies, such as doors and windows, according to the company’s website. A company representative didn’t immediately return a request for comment.

In the release, investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
